1  Youth Wrestling / AAU Wrestling / Re: SC AAU Parade of Champions at the State Tournament on: March 09, 2009, 02:45:23 PM
I like the Parade of Champions- It gives those kids a special recognition for their season of hard work; and if you are a regular top place finisher you are used to waiting around all day! You could possibly shorten it by not waiting around for the Spotlight matches till everything is over but then I dont have a real beef with that either. It is special for the kids wrestling in them and their supporters! I thought the Tournament ran very well and compliments to Team Palmetto, all the guys and ladies behind the scenes that put it together, and Eastside HS!

8  General Category / General Discussion / Re: 8th graders Wrestling Varsity on: June 25, 2008, 04:07:12 PM
Unless something changed at the principal/ad's meeting this past week, 8th graders can not wrestle varsity.  This is regardless of their amount of experience.  they can also not play football or soccer.  they are allowed to play varsity in any other sport.

Later

I think they are voting this summer... I would like to see it passed! The 1A and 2A schools need it to compete.
9  Youth Wrestling / AAU Wrestling / Any Youth Wrestling Clubs around Hilton Head? on: April 11, 2008, 10:01:15 AM
I have a friend down around the Bluffton/Hilton Head area that is looking for a Youth Wrestling Club- AAU or USA- does anyone know of any?Huh? Thanks

I heard some of the high schoolers that went to the Dixie duals say there were some wrestlers competing from a couple of states that were potential future 5 time state champions because they were allowed to wrestle as early as the seventh grade. Does anyone know which states?Huh? I recollect them mentioning Alabama and maybe Virginia???
11  General Category / General Discussion / Re: 8th graders Wrestling Varsity on: March 11, 2008, 02:00:34 PM
There may be a slightly higher risk of injury but then I think an experienced 8th grader could hold his own better than most 9th or 10th graders that have no wrestling experience. I would love to see the Middle School programs promoted as well but most of your 1A/2A schools have problems financing their High School program much less a middle school program. I hope to see it come to pass, even if it just included your 103 and 112 class.
12  General Category / General Discussion / 8th graders Wrestling Varsity on: March 10, 2008, 08:10:40 AM
I overheard some people talking this weekend at AAU State saying that 8th graders may be allowed to wrestle varsity next year?Huh? I thought the rule was 8th graders can not participate in Varsity contact sports such as football and wrestling??? I like the idea, especially for the smaller 1A schools which have a hard time filling all weight classes. And my second question is, are there any exceptions where an 8th grader can wrestle Varsity???
13  Youth Wrestling / AAU Wrestling / Re: Summerville AAU Tourny - Pre Pay, Pre Register only. Rookie Division on: January 15, 2008, 11:07:00 AM
Is the EXHIBITION TOURNAMENT  –  1st YEAR WRESTLERS for wrestlers which this is their first year competing or their first tournament??? The writeup eluded to both.... Thanks! And will they be wrestling in separate brackets or both exhibition brackets and the regular tournament brackets, also?Huh?
